SWA POSITION ON VACCINE MANDATES

SASKATCHEWAN WEIGHTLIFTING ASSOCIATION

Position on Vaccine Mandates

SWA Sanctioned Activities

Effective immediately, SWA will make Covid-19 vaccinations mandatory to participate in any in-person SWA sanctioned activities.

OUR PRIORITY IS THE HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELL-BEING OF ALL PARTICIPANTS OF OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING IN SASKATCHEWAN.

WE SUPPORT OUR MEMBER TRAINING CENTRES  AND RESPECT THEIR AUTONOMY TO OPERATE SUCCESSFUL FACILITIES. WE SUPPORT AND RESPECT OUR MEMBERS PRIVACY.

THE BOARD IS UNITED IN OUR STANCE TO PROTECT THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ATHLETES, STAFF, CONTRACTORS, VOLUNTEERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

This policy is in effect for all athletes, coaches, officials, staff, contractors, volunteers, media, and fans above the age of 11.  Those participants 11 years of age and younger are exempt from the mandatory vaccination requirement but they must comply with all other Saskatchewan Health or SWA Guidelines.  This is subject to change based upon new guidelines released by the Saskatchewan Government.

Those participating or attending SWA sanctioned events (competitions, camps, clinics or meetings) MUST be fully vaccinated, defined by a period of at least 14 days having passed since receiving their second dose of two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series, and provide a proof of full vaccination.  Proof of vaccination may be shown to their identified Training Centre or sent to the Executive Director of the SWA.  Prior to competitions, after registration, the SWA will contact Training Centres to confirm vaccination status of their registered members.  Vaccination status will be recorded on the SWA member file and no other personal information will be retained.

All participants must also comply with Saskatchewan Health Guidelines such as masking, social distancing etc.

If there are any questions or concerns regarding this statement or the implementation of it, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Executive Director or the Board of Directors at any time.
