Re: Sports Liability Insurance - Training outside of personal gym; Virtual training
Please find attached the SWA’s current Sports Liability Insurance. All SWA coaches (must be a registered SWA member) are covered under this policy when providing coaching services to their athletes. As gyms throughout the provinces have been closed to COVID-19, access to coaching services for athletes has been greatly diminished. SWA coaches are covered when providing coaching services to an athlete (an SWA member) training outside of their personal gym. Please ensure you are adhering to social distancing guidelines as outlined by the Government of Saskatchewan.
VIRTUAL TRAINING
If you are considering virtual training with your athlete, the following questions are to be answered and submitted to the SWA a minimum of one week in advance of the scheduled virtual training date. The SWA will provide them to the insurer on your behalf.
· Who is conducting the virtual training? A member of the Provincial Sport Governing Body (PSBG)
o If not a member of the PSGB – are they insured for online / virtual training?
o If not a member of the PSGB – is the trainer sanctioned / approved by the PSGB
· What activities are included in the virtual training?
· Are waivers or releases being signed?
· Also, please provide the type of platform being used ie., Zoom, Skype?
