2024/25 Training Centre Membership
The SWA Training Centre Membership Program aims to increase collaboration between the SWA and local weightlifting organisations. The Training Centre Membership Program helps the SWA identify and support organizations providing high-quality weightlifting training.

SWA Training Centre Membership Program
The purpose of the SWA Training Centre Membership Program has been established to create ties between the SWA and local lifting organizations who may wish to help grow the sport. The Training Centre membership program helps the SWA identify programs that provide a high-quality training experience, by certifying and promoting those gyms that meet program standards.
To be recognized as a Training Center in good standing with the SWA, a Training Centre must meet or exceed the following criteria each year (October 1st – Sept 30th). The SWA has the sole and absolute right to revoke the status Training Center at any time and for any reason without penalty.
Requirements for Membership
Minimum Standards for SWA Training Centre Membership:
Training Centre head coaches must be members in good standing of the SWA
Have at least 1 NCCP Certified Competition Intro Olympic Weightlifting Coach or complete Comp Intro certification within 1 year of seeking SWA club status
At least 1 Registered Official (based on TC’s membership) within 1 year of seeking SWA club status: see table below
3 Registered athletes who have competed in a minimum of 2 SWA-sanctioned competition during the current season
Training Center Membership Requirements:
5-9: 1 Competition Introduction Certified Coach and 1 Certified Official
10-14: 1 Competition Introduction Certified Coach and 2 Certified Officials
15-19: 1 Competition Introduction Certified Coach and 3 Certified Officials
20-24: 2 Competition Introduction Certified Coach and 4 Certified Officials
+25: 2 Competition Introduction Certified Coach and 5 Certified Officials
Participation
Three (3) different registered training center members must participate in at least two SWA sanctioned competitions per year
Each certified technical official within the Training Center (identified in section 2 Training Centre Membership Requirements) must officiate in some capacity in at least 4 sessions per year. It is the responsibility of the training center to record and coordinate these hours with the meet directors and the SWA Executive Director.
Training centers will be responsible for 3 volunteer hours for each identified SWA member up to a maximum of 75 hours. For example, if a training center has 8 members, it will be responsible for 24 volunteer hours. Please see Volunteer Policy
Administration
Training Centre must complete an SWA Training Centre Registration Form and submit to the Executive Director each year
Application fee: $100.00
Compliance
Training Centre must adhere to all SWA Policies and Procedures to be eligible for Training Center status for their activities to be sanctioned.
Benefits of Membership
All registered Training Centres are eligible for the following membership benefits:
Have its programs and service offerings included on the SWA Website, Facebook and Instagram social media platforms
Insurance coverage under the SWA Sanctioned Event and Training Policies
Use of SWA equipment for sanctioned events if available
Receive a discount on the purchase of new or used equipment that is sold by the Association.
Be eligible to loan out SWA Equipment (to help with Training Center start up)
Increased MAP funding based on membership numbers and member participation at SWA sanctioned competitions
NO MAP FUNDING for Training Centre who do not meet thier requirements.
SWA Educational/Associate Training Centre Membership Program
The SWA Educational/Associate Training Centre (TC) Membership provides gyms/schools/communities interested in developing the sport of weightlifting access to SWA programs and services.
Requirements for Membership
SWA Membership Minimu
Have at least 1 SWA Registered Coach
5 Registered SWA members
Have regularly scheduled Olympic Lifting training sessions (min. 1-2 per week)
TC must complete an SWA TC Registration Form and submit to the SWA Membership Committee each year Cost $100
Not eligible for MAP funding for Educational Centres
Benefits of Membership
All registered TC’s are eligible for the following membership benefits:
· Discounts on SWA sanctioned coaching and officiating courses
· Access to the SWA Equipment Loan Out Program
· To ability to host an SWA Mock Meet, Learn to Lift or junior program (costs covered by the SWA; as well as event insurance covered through the SWA)
· Access to an SWA Certified Coach to a maximum of 5 in person or virtual sessions for athlete or coach training per year
· Purchase new or used SWA equipment at a discounted rate
