Canadian Senior Championships 2018

The Canadian Senior Championships took place on May 19-20, 2018 in Mississauga, Ontario. We took a team of 10 athletes, which included:

  • Jeff Woo - 69kg

  • David Samayoa - 85kg

  • Tyler Siwak - 105kg

  • Chad Brooks - 105+kg

  • Anne-Marie Young & Daphne-Anne Hodgson - 48kg

  • Amanda Ruller - 53kg

  • Abra Thompson - 63kg

  • Alanna Bens - 75kg

  • Sydney Emmons - 90kg

Those who took home medals for Saskatchewan were David Samayoa taking Gold, Sydney Emmons took silver, and Daphne-Anne Hodgson and Chad Brooks taking bronze in their respective classes.

Provincial records were broken over the weekend as well with the following athletes setting the bar higher in the province:

  • Chad Brooks - SK 105+kg Provincial record snatch at 145kg, clean and jerk at 188kg, and total at 333kg

  • Daphne-Anne - SK 48kg Provincial record snatch at 58kg

  • Amanda Ruller - SK 53kg Provincial record snatch at 69kg (Amanda took over Veronica Follicks’s 10 year record that was set in March 2008).
