SWA coaches.
Moving forward, in an effort to continue to improve our meets and our association we will be requiring all coaches to register for meets through the same process as athletes. Registration is setup to assure we know which coaches are attending and provide the meet director sufficient time to check certifications, and prepare identification lanyards as well. Our goal as an association is to continue providing the highest quality services possible and this step takes our meets to the next level. SWA is happy to announce the newest member of the team - Dwayne Dreher. Dwayne’s title will be Executive director for SWA and will be taking on a large work load and helping the SWA with a multitude of tasks moving forward. We are happy to have Dwayne on the team.

Dwayne’s Bio:

My background as an athlete is in amateur wrestling. Throughout the 80s, I competed in high school, and with the University of Regina Cougars, from 85-89. In 1989, I graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Physical Activity Studies degree, major in Sport Administration.

For almost 30 years, I have been involved in non profit sport organizations in the province, such as Judo, Wrestling, Squash and Gymnastics. I also worked for Bobsleigh Canada, 2007-13, as the Finance Manager/Operations Manager.

I feel that my athletic and administrative background prepares me well for the challenging position of Executive Director. I am appreciative of this opportunity, and look forward to working with the membership to further the development of one of the Olympic Games original sports

Open Letter to Membership - Meeting

Photofox179.png

Dear SWA Members,

As many of you are aware this past year has been filled with many changes, some of which have been communicated well & others that have not. This has lead to a significant amount of unrest & confusion within the membership. We would like to take this opportunity to assure you that we are working hard behind the scenes, & have a number of exciting changes coming in the near future. Due to confidentiality we cannot speak directly to a lot of what has happened, but we acknowledge that many of you are feeling left out, unheard, & full of questions that you would like answered. To help begin to rebuild trust & work towards a more cohesive & collaborative SWA the Board of Directors would like to invite you, the SWA membership, to join us in October (details to-be-announced soon) for a mediated town hall meeting where we will discuss what has happened over the past year & what the future holds for the SWA. This is your opportunity to voice your concerns, ask questions, provide feedback, & hear more about what the Board of Directors is working on.

We appreciate your patience over the coming weeks as we work to finalize details on the meeting. In the meantime, we would also like to encourage you to reach out to the Board whenever you have questions or concerns. We will be able to accomplish much more together than apart, so please reach out & help us shape the SWA into an organization that we can all be proud of.
